Feel comfortable
& at ease
discover who & what emerges
When you come to practise with me, I welcome and meet you where you are – whatever your age or experience. Above all, I seek to hold space for you to feel comfortable and at ease in rest and movement; to fully accept yourself as you are; and to be curious about what you might experience and learn within yourself and in community.
I invite you into movements where you cultivate your awareness and understanding of your sensations, and of yourself. You are encouraged to embrace practice as an iterative process rather than to arrive at a ‘destination’ – inquisitive, rather than acquisitive. I am deeply interested in enabling you to discover who and what emerges and becomes possible.
As Amy Matthews asks: How can I do less and feel myself more?
Students describe feeling encouraged, supported and cared for; experiencing enjoyment, openness, energy, exhilaration, a sense of peace and deep calm.

What will you experience in a workshop or class?
Each workshop and class is unique, but you can always expect:
- time to settle and become comfortable; an invitation to scan through your body – physical, energetic, emotional. I’ll introduce the theme for the class
- gentle movements to release any tension and to hydrate and lubricate body tissues
- exploring more dynamic and fuller body movements in different levels and planes, involving flexion, extension and rotation
- returning to the ground and towards slower movements
- ending where we started, settling towards the ground.
In a somatics class, we start and end in a similar way. I may introduce and demonstrate the principles and benefits of somatic movement. The theme may focus on a particular area of the body and connect this to our everyday movements in the world. We then explore sequences to release involuntary muscle tension and progress to larger movements for full-body movement patterns.
