About me

Hello!

I live in Portobello – ‘Edinburgh by the sea’ – and sometimes on the Isle of Bute, experiencing the shores and wide horizons of east and west Scotland.

I love walking in nature, listening to birdsong, swimming in the sea, playing with my grandson, creating gardens, singing, music and many forms of art and expression.

I volunteer with the Green Team, supporting young people to build confidence and skills in nature and to enhance their wellbeing; and in Portobello Timebank, giving and receiving skills and time from others and contributing to community projects. Through volunteering, I have grown new roots, made new friends, and deepened my appreciation of people and the wondrous webs that connect us.

Let me keep my distance, always, from those
who think they have the answers.

Let me keep company always with those who say
“Look!” and laugh in astonishment,
and bow their heads.

Mary Oliver – Mysteries, yes

I initially came to yoga as a respite, to relieve chronic and sometimes acute tension and discomfort. I grew into the practice, and I grew myself through the practices of yoga and somatic movement.

"Gaby pays attention to each person’s needs and strengths and helps us individually to understand and extend ourselves... She brings curiosity, humility, intelligence and a thread of connection which enriches others."

Yvonne, student

"Gaby's patient and enthusiastic guidance builds her students’ confidence in their ability to move in new and more fulfilling ways. She mediates this with clear and concise instruction, sensitive touch, and a wonderfully encouraging attitude that fosters joy in the very process of learning."

"Gaby radiates intelligence, integrity and humour. As a key faculty member on my Somatic Teacher Trainings, her input is wise, warm, clear and compelling. I know few septuagenarians who move with her ease and agility. This is a testament to her many years studying yoga and fifteen years of somatic explorations. Her dedication is a gift to her students. I encourage you wholeheartedly to learn with her."
